Take a look at the picture to your left and try to guess what was running through my mind. Have you guessed yet?
Well, let me hint you on. On Sunday evening a group of Bahamian students including Amina, Ahmad, Brandon, Matthew, and I left The Bahamas to come to Canada as exchange students. Our first flight took us to west Palm Beach where airport were we sat and waited for a next flight! Our next flight took us to New Wack (that might be spelled wrong) where we arrived somewhere around 1a.m and spent the night. For most of us, it was the first time we saw a big block of ice sittin in the middle of the parking lot. The hotel where we spent the night was beautiful: indoor pools, nice heating system, and a whole indoor outside enviroment which you definitely need to see for yourself to understand. Round 1:30a.m we were all hungry and desperately wanting food. No pizza place or restuarant around was open. So there we went, the five of us! Outside in the rain at a temperature of 30 degress farenheit which is about 2 degrees below the freeing point of water, we skipped crossed the parking lot, then to the road and we walked to the next hotel where we bought sandwiches that no1 liked along with some nice hot chocolate that everyone liked. No one slept that night! My fellow companions watched television while i went downstairs in search of "free" wireless interent so that I could figure out how I would get from the airport to wherever im supposed to stay when I arrive in Canada.

Well, skipping the New Wack airport rush that morning, we finially arrived in Canada. We spent approximately 30+ mins sitting on the airport in the jet waiting for a jet terminal to be empty so that our jet could have pulled in. After be safely parked we went thru customs with no problem however, it is now MR. IMMIGRATION TIME!!! No one seem to have had an acceptance letter from the universities we were attending at hand. As a result, the immigration officer held us at immigration for hours and called our universities telling them "if you dont send his letter of acceptance now via fax, he would be on the next flight back to The Bahamas." Hence we spent hours on the airport waiting for such faxs to come thru!! (THATS THE REASON MY HEAD WAS DOWN DEPRESSED IN THE PICTURE ABOVE) However, thanks to Mr. Russel who once when contacted by us acted quickely and sent the information we needed via fax.

Well Ahmad & Mina, we no longer have to sit in the immigration office and look at the snow through the window!! We can now see it up close and feel it!!

Advice to future exchange students :: Be sure to have an updated visa, travel with your acceptance letters at all times, and whatever can legally fit in your carry on bag, you should take it in there!!

Peace,
K.M.C
